The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences (NCMNS) is a natural history museum in Raleigh, North Carolina. The museum is the oldest in the state, and the largest natural history museum in the Southeastern United States.
The museum is made up of six facilities, divided between five campuses. The newest facility, the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences at Greenville, was announced in 2020 and opened to the public on September 18, 2021. NCMNS is a division of the state Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.
My Thoughts
It was such a pleasure to return to the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences for my third visit! There is something special about coming back to a place that has always been so beautiful and inspiring. Every time I walk through the museum, I’m reminded of just how incredible the natural world is and how much there is still to learn and discover.
From the incredible fossil displays and prehistoric life exhibits to the modern wildlife and natural history collections, the museum has something for everyone. Even after visiting twice before, it was still wonderful to explore the exhibits again and take in all the amazing specimens and displays. It’s always nice to see a familiar place with fresh eyes and find something new to appreciate.
I’m very grateful to have had the opportunity to visit the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences for a third time, and I hope it won’t be my last. It truly is a beautiful museum, and every visit is an experience I look forward to and cherish.
